• Install, maintain, and repair electrical wiring, equipment, and fixtures. Ensure that work is in accordance with relevant codes. May install or service street light, intercom systems, or electrical control systems.
• Diagnose malfunctioning systems, apparatus and components, using test equipment and hand tools, to locate the case of a breakdown and correct the problem.
• Connect wires to circuit breakers, transformers, and other components.
• Inspect electrical systems, equipment, and components to identify hazards, defects, and the needs for the adjustment or repair, and to ensure compliance with codes.
• Test electrical systems and continuity of circuits in electrical wiring, equipment, and fixtures, using testing devices such as ohmmeters, voltmeters, and ensure compatibility and safety of system.
• Plan layout and instillation of electrical wiring, equipment fixtures, based on the job specifications and local codes.
• Perform basic mechanical tasks when able and competent.
